EWSI - 610- DEC 11

For numerous organizations, IPC-A-610 certification is required for anyone who holds a solder certification, who is an inspector, or who examines products and makes accept/reject decisions.  This requirement includes all assemblers, quality personnel, manufacturing & process engineers, and some test technicians & test engineers, as well as design engineers.  Also, with the cancellation of MIL-STD-2000A in 1995, many companies had made decisions to adopt this industry-consensus IPC-A-610 standard; thus the training to IPC-A-610 replaced certification to MIL-STD-2000A.

The IPC-A-610 certification training program is valuable to the electronics industry as it defines a clear, distinct level of training, which is acknowledged and accepted by other users of the program.  Holding an IPC certificate illustrates that the individual had successfully learned a precise set of industry-recognized criteria, which in turn is a terrific starting point for an excellent quality quest.
